The Gebakha Irrigation Channel sourced from Zachu to Gebakha Chiwog, Daga Gewog, Wangdue Phodrang was formally inaugurated today. The 13 KM irrigation channel under GoI- SDP Phase I project was constructed at a total budget of Nu. 7.0 Million.
The completed project will benefit 21 Households of Gebakha Village of Daga Gewog to meet the irrigation water requirements for about 60 acres of wetlands and also help irrigate more than 20 acres which had been kept fallow for so many years due to water shortage.
Moreover, the Dzongkhag has also assisted 15 households in the village in development of about 20 acres of land under Green Climate Fund (GCF) for additional agricultural activities.
Venerable Gaytsho Lopen of Central Monastic Body, who is also from Gebakha Village graced the occasion.
