The Dzongkhag Administration in colloboration with Kathok Yoseling Monastry of Wangdue Phodrang is proud to announce a significant initiative on March 22, 2025, aimed at cleaning up the Baychu Stream and raising awareness around the critical issues of water security and ecosystem preservation. 

This event, held in celebration of World Water Day and Earth Hour 2025, focuses on the vital importance of clean water access for the residents of Bajo Municipality and the surrounding areas.

The clean-up event is fully sponsored by Kathok Yoseling Monastry with shirt, lunch and refreshment. There are about 200 participants including representatives from the monastry, Dzongkhag Administration, Bajo Municipality, local schools, private waste management companies, regional offices, the armed forces,, forestry and local residents.

During the opening remarks by Dzongdag, he highlighted the essentiality of water security, the need for ecosystem preservation, and the need for community-driven environmental responsibility.

The focus aligns with the World Water Day 2025 theme, "Glacier Preservation," which brings attention to the critical role glaciers play in supplying freshwater across the globe.

Furthermore, the event also supports Earth Hour 2025’s call to action, "Create the Biggest Hour for the Earth," urging collective efforts to protect and sustain our natural ecosystems.This clean-up and advocacy event not only aims to enhance the local environment but also empowers community members to actively participate in protecting their natural resources.
